Art that Unites and Inspires

Floral Footprints:
A Community Canvas

(Ps. This is an ongoing project as of September 2024, and will be updated.)
This project has two main goals: to encourage people to discuss beautification and express their opinions about art, and to leave behind visual footprints that residents can take pride in. I offer to create small "bouquets" of flowers for neighborhoods or individual residents, allowing them to choose a public wall that they own or that is part of their community.

The flowers are painted as stencils, and the residents are involved in selecting which flowers and color palettes will be used—they are essentially "ordering" a bouquet! Once a wall is chosen, they contact me with permission, a photo of the wall, and their flower choices. I then create the artwork based on their design preferences.

The beauty of this project lies in its ability to foster community dialogue. For anyone interested in having a bouquet painted, they need to engage with their neighbors, bring the idea to neighborhood meetings, and present it for discussion. Suddenly, people who might never have spoken about art before are conversing about it, aiming to enhance their everyday environment with these small bursts of joy.

To kick off the project, the stencils will first be introduced in an underground setting, where children can participate and learn how to create stencils themselves, becoming more familiar with this art form. This not only makes the process more inclusive but also helps plant the seeds of creativity and community involvement at a young age.
